SERVICES
With 27 years of legal experience, I understand the legal and business challenges companies face at different stages of growth. My career includes 13 years serving in general counsel roles and many years in litigation and trial work, serving as a general counsel for a public company and as a director and outside general counsel for a start-up.
I have advised private and public companies, founders, executive leadership teams, and boards on matters involving operations, governance, commercial transactions, disputes, and business continuity. My approach is practical, strategic, and grounded in the realities of running a business.

My experience includes advising at both public-company and start-up levels. As general counsel for a public company, I worked closely with management and the board on governance, risk, compliance, and strategic matters. I also served as a director and outside general counsel for a start-up, which gave me a firsthand perspective on the legal and business issues that arise in earlier-stage companies, where decisions often need to be made quickly and resources must be used carefully.
That combination of public-company discipline and start-up perspective enables me to offer practical, scalable advice.

Effective legal advice should do more than identify risk. It should help leadership make sound decisions, move the business forward, and avoid unnecessary cost and disruption.
Having spent substantial time both inside companies and in litigation, I bring a perspective that combines legal judgment with operational awareness. I work closely with business leaders to provide clear, actionable advice aligned with company objectives.

For more than 13 years, I served in general counsel roles, including as general counsel for a public company and as outside general counsel for a start-up. In those roles, I advised executives and boards on matters such as corporate governance, commercial contracts, risk management, compliance, internal policies, employment and operational issues, and the management of outside counsel.
I understand what leadership teams need from counsel: responsiveness, sound judgment, practical solutions, and the ability to balance legal risk with business goals.

In addition to my general counsel work, I spent many years in litigation and have first-chaired trials. That experience remains an important part of how I advise clients today.
I understand how disputes develop, when early intervention can reduce exposure, and how to evaluate litigation risk from both a legal and business perspective. When litigation arises, I can advise on strategy, manage disputes efficiently, and handle matters as needed, with a focus on cost, leverage, and outcomes.

I also have substantial experience in restructuring and insolvency matters, including Chapter 11, Chapter 7, and Assignments for the Benefit of Creditors (ABCs).
Whether a company is facing financial distress, evaluating strategic alternatives, managing creditor issues, or navigating an orderly wind-down, I provide practical counsel during high-stakes situations where sound judgment matters most.

I work with growth-stage and mid-market businesses that need experienced legal leadership but may not yet need, or want, a full-time general counsel.
My role is to serve as a trusted advisor to management, helping companies address legal issues proactively, strengthen decision-making, manage disputes, and support growth with experienced counsel that is integrated with the business.
If your company needs seasoned legal judgment, from governance and commercial matters to litigation and restructuring, I welcome the opportunity to speak with you.
